How to donate copies of death certificates

Dorset DCI covers deaths registered in the county of Dorset from 1837 to 1875, and is based on death certificates in the public domain or donated by fellow researchers.

If you would like to donate a death certificate please email a PDF or scan (digital copy) – you do not need to send an original certificate. The email address to send it to is:

To ensure the accuracy of the index it is important that you send a scan rather than a transcript. Copies of your scans will not be shared with anyone else, but most of the information in them will be reproduced on this website.

Although Dorset DCI currently only goes up to 1875, this time period may be extended at some point in the future.

The term ‘county of Dorset’ means the historic county and includes places such as Lyme Regis, even though for registration purposes it fell within the Axminster registration district in Devon.
